Laila Mohamed Ali

Laila Mohamed Ali is a passionate and ambitious law student at Al-Azhar University for Girls in Alexandria, Egypt, majoring in Islamic and Egyptian Law. With a strong dedication to legal research, academic excellence, and advocacy, she has already demonstrated significant leadership and strategic thinking in various regional and international moot court competitions. Her academic journey is marked by an eagerness to challenge herself, an enthusiasm for continuous learning, and a deep commitment to the principles of justice and human rights.

Laila’s most distinguished achievements stem from her active participation in high-profile moot courts. In 2024, she led her university’s team in the IT Law Moot Court hosted by the British University in Egypt. Under her leadership, the team reached the quarter-finals, ranking among the top eight institutions across the Middle East and Africa. She excelled in drafting legal strategies and presenting respondent arguments on complex legal topics, including the digitalization of warfare and its implications for international humanitarian law. Her advocacy in this competition was marked by clarity, confidence, and deep legal insight.

Further proving her capabilities on the international stage, Laila represented her university in the SCCA Moot Court Competition (Oct 2024 – Feb 2025), a prestigious global event featuring over 150 law schools. Her team secured a top-64 placement globally, earning an impressive 49th ranking. In this rigorous forum, Laila demonstrated forensic legal reasoning and oral advocacy on pivotal arbitration issues such as the validity of arbitration clauses, cost allocation, and enforceability of contractual terms. Her mastery of international arbitration principles and persuasive argumentation underscored her preparedness for the global legal landscape.

Currently, she is also participating in the WIF Mediation Competition under the guidance of Dr. Sheriff Elnegahy. Through this experience, she is gaining hands-on exposure to peaceful dispute resolution, focusing on creating mediation briefs and representing client interests with integrity and empathy.

Laila is deeply committed to community service and volunteer work outside the courtroom. She served in the Big Brother Team at Resala Charity Organization from 2022 to 2024, mentoring underprivileged individuals and supporting humanitarian missions to remote areas. In 2024, she contributed to the Vital training programs (V9 and V10), assisting with educational content delivery and making recommendations for platform development—an experience that honed her teamwork, communication, and innovation skills.

Laila is fluent in Arabic and English (C1 proficiency), with elementary proficiency in French (A2) and Russian (A1). Her core competencies include critical thinking, time management, legal problem-solving, team collaboration, public speaking, and ethical judgment. She credits chess as a major influence in sharpening her strategic thinking and adaptability.
